Introduction
This sample uses a model obtained from the ABB web-site via 3D Content Central.
Materials
Created a "Metallic" material using the Wizard launched from the Addin, to create a copper metal with 25% roughness (0% means shiny).
Assigned the material to all components in the assembly.
Background
Selected an HDR image to use as a background and to be reflected in the model.
Opted for Spherical Mapping and reduced the image intensity to 50%.
Render Settings
Used film speed 100, shutter speed 1/125 seconds, f16, and selected an image resolution of 1200x1200.
Opted to drive the render from Maxwell Studio, so selected "Launch Studio" and hit the render button from the Render Tab of the Maxwell Property Manager.
This created abb.mxs, started Studio and loaded the file.
Did you know?In Maxwell Studio, the Sky Option was incorrectly set to Physical Sky (rather than MXI/HDR map) when the mxs file generated by the plugin was opened in Studio so make sure the correct setting is being used.
Removed the image from the backround channel, I wanted reflections in the model but did not want to see the HDR image in the background, and left it set for the other channels.
Then launched the render (using the Render Scene toolbar button to start mxcl)
and rendered for 4.5 hrs to reach SL 18 using a 2x Dual core Opteron, 2.39GHz, 8Mb memory.
Final image cropped slightly, but no other post-processing.
